Stovetop Spicy Ginger Broccoli

Vegetable

  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more, to taste)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
  • Green onions, thinly sliced, for garnish (optional)
  1. In a large skillet or wok, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Add the broccoli florets and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes, until the broccoli is bright green and slightly tender-crisp.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and sesame oil.
  5. Pour the sauce over the broccoli and stir to coat. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly and the broccoli is cooked to your liking.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, if desired.
  7. Serve immediately.
