Stovetop Spicy Ginger Broccoli
Vegetable
- 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more, to taste)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
- Green onions, thinly sliced, for garnish (optional)
- In a large skillet or wok, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the garlic and ginger and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
- Add the broccoli florets and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes, until the broccoli is bright green and slightly tender-crisp.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and sesame oil.
- Pour the sauce over the broccoli and stir to coat. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly and the broccoli is cooked to your liking.
- Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, if desired.
- Serve immediately.
